In 1990 I picked up a camera and quickly discovered I had an eye for beauty and a passion for turning it into a photograph. Initially, as a hobby but within a short time, and at the urging of a few other professionals, I began to explore the possibilities of becoming a professional photographer.
Being in the right place at the right time was a big boost for me as I shot pictures of a raging wildfire that engulfed thousands of acres of pinelands in Ocean County, New Jersey. My photographs ended up being featured in the August 25, 1995 edition of the Ocean County Observer.
I continued to actively pursue my passion and had pictures published in the Barnegat Bay Banner, and received an honorable mention in “Hidden Silhouettes” coffee-table book, by the International Library of Photography. I've done work for the Rotary Club of Toms River, NJ; photographed David Bowie on stage at Veteran’s Stadium in Philadelphia, PA; and have graced the walls of numerous homes and offices with my photographs. Being an avid scuba diver, I completed a course in underwater videography in 1995 and then in 1999 attended vocational school for developing black and white film. In 2001, I expanded my photography to include boudoir and erotic work. Photography for me is a passion, it is a way of life, an outlet for my creativity and self-expression.I truly believes that pictures can be made out of anything; Even a pile of old junk, in the proper positioning, light and framing can make a statement. Black and white is a preference, as there are some pictures which, if taken in color, do not make the same statement when taken in black and white. One of my favorites, “House on a hill” is a perfect example of this.In color, it was no more then a run down old red house in the middle of some bare trees at the top of a hill. However, in black and white, it brings to mind Norman Bates in Psycho. In mid-2004 I relocated from New Jersey to Florida, where I continue my passion and constantly seek to expand my ever-growing portfolio and career.

In addition to photography, I also write. You can read my current rantings on my blog "The Angry Blonde." The title "The Angry Blonde" came from my honey, he thought it was cute and catchy and I agreed. I'm not really an angry person, but people in this world do things that are really disrespectful, stupid, ignorant, inconsiderate and more...so I blog about it...I hope you enjoy my writings and find a little humor, a little reality and a lot of common sense. You can read my blog by clicking here: "The Angry Blonde"
I am working on an auto-biography. I have come a long way in my life and up until recently my life was very hard and filled with one bad break after another. A few years ago, I took control back in my life and I have made some major changes. My desire is to now help others, for I believe that if people read my story and they have been where I was in even the slightest way, then they too can see that it is possible to dig yourself out and come out on top.
I would love to help people achieve their dreams and I think I can do this by telling my story. If I can help just one person, then all of the hard times in my life, the lessons learned and the hard work and determination to be where I am today will be well worth it.
Again, as always, I want to hear your feedback, whether it be either good, bad or indifferent...drop me a note at feedback@robbynanderson.com
